About
Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. (ΣΓΡ) was founded on November 12, 1922, at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana by seven young educators. Founded in the midst of segregation, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. is the only sorority of the four historically African-American sororities in the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) established at a PWI. The sorority aims to enhance the quality of life within the community through public service, leadership development, and education of youth.
The Tau Rho chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. was chartered on April 29, 2018 by 9 illustrious young women on the campus of Texas Christian University (TCU). Sorors of Tau Rho champion academic excellence and work to promote the values and standards of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority on TCU’s campus. During its inaugural year, Tau Rho set the stage for its legacy and impact within Fort Worth and the surrounding areas through events concerning education, mental health, breast cancer awareness, and notable women in Black history.
